Federation Chinese New Year

We have been learning about how Chinese people in the UK, China and around the world celebrate the New Year or Spring festival. We read the story of how the years were named after the twelve different animals, called the Chinese Zodiac.
2017 will be the Year of the Rooster.
We found out about the traditional customs and stories that are linked to this festival and planned our own Chinese New Year celebration.
At Whittonstall, we worked with our 'buddy partners' to make Chinese Lanterns and colourful Chinese dragon puppets. Everyone was impressed with how well we worked together and helped each other with the activities. We also enjoyed a delicious Chinese lunch and had a go at eating it with chopsticks.
