Autumn 1
This half term our Creative Curriculum topic is 'Fire and Ice'. We have been looking at the Great Fire of London, Guy Fawkes and the race to the Antarctic. In our reading and writing lessons, we have looked at a range of fiction and non-fiction pieces linked to our topic. Year 2 have been completing  some amazing sentence stacking work.
Into the woods! Year 2 have taken part in Forest School sessions in Glebe Woods where they have continued to embed their WILD Passport skills which include nature, fire, rope, shelter and woodcraft.  To support and embed learning within the 'Fire and Ice' topic we have focused on the use of fire and how to make fire safely. Children have demonstrated contextualised risk assessment in the woods.
In Maths, year 2 have been working on place value to 100. We have enjoyed exploring this topic through a range of games and using concrete resources for understanding. In Phonics we have been working on alternative spellings. Year 2 have had lots of fun with our spelling bee activities.
This term we had French day in school. The children looked at Landmarks, artists and food associated to France.
