Dear Parents
Children in Need
Thank you for supporting Children in Need Day – our non-uniform event raised £123.00.
Christmas Fair - Saturday 28 November 2009
As you know the school Christmas Fair is tomorrow! May I take this opportunity to thank the hard working members of the PTA for all their time in organising this event and to the parents who have volunteered to help. I hope you are able to come along and support this festive fundraising event, enjoy a cup of coffee and a mince pie and browse round the stalls. I look forward to seeing you there!
New Parent Governor
I am pleased to welcome Mrs Julie Stoves-Robson, (Mitchell’s mum) who will join our great team of governors next term.
Choir – Hexham Christmas Market
Please try to join us at 10.15am on Saturday 12th December at the entrance to the park, opposite The Queen’s Hall, when the children will be singing a selection of carols for around 25 minutes. I am a little worried that we will not have a good turnout so I would really appreciate it if you can help me with this – I realize it’s a really busy time of the year!! All classes, apart from Reception pupils, are practising the songs so if your child can make it on the day we would be delighted.
If possible, could all children participating in the choir wear a Santa hat – however uniform will not be necessary.
The Donkey Seller
Year 4 will be performing a sneak preview of their production on Wednesday 2nd December to the ladies of the Coffee Club in the Methodist Church. Please make sure pupils have their costumes in school before then.
Classes 2 and 3 will be starring as Angels and Shepherds. We know from experience that angel wings and shepherd crooks are not a great idea! They can look gorgeous without them so please don’t worry about providing them.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH)
As part of the Donkey Seller, the children will be coming into the hall to the new X-Factor song – You Are Not Alone. While we are not actively raising funds for the X-Factor chosen charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), there will be a collection bucket available in the hall if you wish to contribute.
School Leadership and Management Plan
The full plan for 2009-12 has been agreed by the governors and this will steer our direction for the next 3 years. The key aims from this plan for the current school year can be found on our website. If you would like a paper copy or to see the full plan please contact me.
Healthy Schools
To maintain our Healthy Schools status we are asked not to have birthday cakes or sweets in school when a child has a birthday. If you would like to send fruit or a healthy snack, that would be fine. Thank you for your help with this.
Theatre Visits
Reception and Year 1 pupils thoroughly enjoyed The Prince and the Penguin production performed at Northern Stage. Many thanks to the PTA for generously covering all transport costs for this trip. Soon it will be the turn of Years 2, 3 and 4 to go to the theatre. Please ensure you have returned your permission slip.
Milk
Letters have been distributed regarding milk at breaktime. If you would like your child to receive milk during the Spring term could you please complete and return the reply slip to school no later than Friday 4 December 2009.
