We are a very popular village school for 4-9 year olds located in Stocksfield, Tyne Valley. The school is set within a beautiful Victorian building, with a large playground, garden area and access to sports fields. We benefit from a separate sports hall and dining hall and enjoy spacious classrooms. In the grounds we are very pleased to accomodate Mid Tyne Kids Club, who can provide excellent care for children, before and after school.

We currently have 116 children in the main school and have 22 children in Pre-school. The school is part of the Prudhoe Partnership with children progressing to Ovingham Middle School and then to Prudhoe High School.

The school is divided into five classrooms and the Pre-school. Reception Class currently has 23 pupils taught by Miss S Richardson. Class one has 25 pupils taught by Mrs A Gray and Mrs J Humes. Mrs S Allen teaches 27 pupils in year 2. Mrs J Lorimer is in Year 3 with 24 pupils and Year 4 is taught by Mr Hammersley, where there are 17 pupils. We are lucky to be supported by a dedicated team of teaching assistants, including Mrs C Gilroy, Mrs K Swan, Mrs C Crawford, Mrs K Hudson and Mrs J Dickinson. Supporting Mrs Coulson in the Senior Management Team are Mrs Allen and Mr Hammersley.

The senior managers have clearly defined roles and responsibilities to ensure teaching and learning in Broomley is the best it can be. While Mrs Coulson is off-site the Senior Managers act as the Head teacher.

Broomley First School is a small school that values its strong links between staff, parents and governors. The emotional well being of the children is our primary aim. We aim to provide a happy, welcoming, stimulating environment which will provide high standards of education, value the efforts of the individual, fulfil the learning potential of all pupils and promote equal opportunities. Our approach encourages children to develop positive attitudes towards learning. It also promotes, initiative, self-discipline, high self-esteem and independence.

As our website demonstrates, the children at Broomley First School are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents. We would encourage you to browse around our website, you will find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about our after school clubs and extra curricular activities that your children can participate in.
